Discharge Lamps
Discharge lighting is versatile, reliable, cost effective and much cheaper to run than other forms of lighting.Choices between the different types of discharge lighting rest mainly upon the relative importance of initial cost, electricity cost and colour/quality of the light, in which there are wide variations.
-
Low Pressure Sodium
These lamps provide the highest efficacy (ratio of light emitted to power consumed), and therefore the lowest operating cost of all light sources.
-
High Pressure Sodium
This characteristic orange light provides an excellent combination of high efficacy and adequate colour rendering for a wide variety of applications especially where energy cost effectiveness is important.
-
Mercury
A good low cost source when a white light is required, MBFU lamps are relatively inexpensive, whilst offering an economic running cost for many general purposes. A particular advantage is the very wide range of power ratings available.
-
Metal Halide
The optimum choice for energy effectiveness when colour quality is required, such as prestige commercial and leisure applications, department stores and lighting of major sporting venues.
