Folding Pit Ladder

Folding Pit Ladder

The folding pit ladder is ideal for applications where wall fixing or remote storage is impractical or unsafe.

Its design consists of two ladder sections which are joined by a set of steel reinforced locking hinges. It also features anti-skid rungs spaced vertically at 255mm and a 5mm thick, fully adjustable steel chequer plate hook profile (see fig 16). The hook profile protrudes 100mm from the ladder and is designed to sit in the door track or groove of a telescopic or centrally opening lift door. It is mounted on two guide rails, making it fully adjustable over a vertical range of 1000mm. This feature ensures a safe angle of ladder inclination across a broad range of pit depths. To avoid tilt back, the hook profile is fixed to the guide rails at a permanent angle of 20 degrees.

The ladder complies to EN81:20-2014 for pit depths of 1 metre or less

The lower half of the ladder is connected (via two swivel fixings) to a 6mm thick steel plate which secures to the pit floor. The ladder is pulled up from the pit floor by a 3mtr steel chain which is securely fixed to the top half of the ladder. The hinges enable the ladder to unfold and the hook profile is then placed in the door track. The pad bolt fixed to the side of the ladder must be secured prior to use, to lock the ladder in the upright position. The pad bolt is then released after use so that the ladder can then be folded back into the pit.
