Light meters measure the amount of light received by a surface per unit area per second. This is called illuminance and it is measured in units of LUX.

With much greater emphasis now being placed on levels of illuminance (LUX) in lift cars and lift shafts, particularly in emergency lighting conditions, this hand held light meter will prove to be invaluable in assessing as to whether the appropriate LUX levels have been attained.
